The primary goal of this research is to gain an in-depth understanding of consumers’ attitudes and behaviors regarding online data privacy.
Specific research objectives include:

- Understand perceptions surrounding responsibility for the protection of consumer data
- Understand what actions consumers have taken to protect their data
- Gauge overall level of concern regarding data privacy
- Assess the level of trust in various types of companies around handling personal information
- Understand the types of information Canadians are comfortable sharing and with whom
- Assess Canadians’ perceptions of companies who may misuse data or have data breaches
- Gauge interest levels in various incentives to information sharing
