CTA Welcomes J. David Grossman as Vice President of Regulatory Affairs

Today, the Consumer Technology Association (CTA)® announced that J. David Grossman, former executive director of the GPS Innovation Alliance, will join the organization as vice president of regulatory affairs. Grossman will provide expertise on tech policy priorities such as consumer privacy, broadband and online competition. Grossman returns to CTA, where he previously worked as a government affairs manager on advocacy efforts affecting the consumer technology industry. 

“We are thrilled to welcome David back to CTA, the place where he began his impressive career over a decade ago,” said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, CTA. “David is joining CTA during an exciting time: the rollout of 5G is propelling the growth of self-driving vehicles, smart cities and other game-changing technology. David’s insights and experience will allow him to work with the FCC and other government agencies to keep America as the world’s innovation leader.”  

As Executive Director for the GPS Innovation Alliance, Grossman led the operation, strategy and advocacy for a global trade association of GPS companies, focusing on spectrum policy and infrastructure modernization before Congress, FCC, NTIA and other federal agencies. 

Previously, Grossman served as chief of staff to FCC Commissioner Mignon Clyburn, and legislative director and senior advisor for technology policy to Rep. Anna Eshoo (D-CA). He also served as technology counsel to the House Small Business Committee. 

He received his bachelor’s in political communication from The George Washington University and his master’s in public policy from George Mason University.
