The following statement is attributed to Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, Consumer Technology Association (CTA)®, regarding the pending presidential election results.

“America has yet to emerge from a vitriolic election cycle in an exceptionally difficult year. Now, we need stability and unity – we must agree to calmly let our constitutional process play out, wait for states to finish counting ballots, accept the result and continue to work together through uncertainties. Our nation's leaders – CEOs, political leaders, public officials and concerned citizens – should urge healing and accept the result. Citizens made their voices heard at the polls. America will get a resolution.

“Our country is at its strongest when its innovators can innovate, and businesses are free to compete. At CTA, we will continue to embrace the challenges that lie before us: attracting and maintaining a skilled workforce, advocating for smart regulations, protecting online free speech, advancing effective trade policy and more. We’ll work with either president to promote and protect America’s global technology leadership.

“Meanwhile, our vibrant technology sector will continue to provide a host of solutions for the problems our nation faces—from offering remote education and work capabilities to developing groundbreaking digital health tools. We encourage continued fact-based conversations with both parties around our sector and the broader digital economy that acknowledge the critical role tech plays in everyday American lives.”
