IEC TC US Technical Advisory Group (TAG) Rules and Guides
CTA is the U.S. National Committee (USNC) Technical Advisory Group (TAG) Administrator for International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) Technical Committee 100 (TC 100), Audio, Video and Multimedia Systems and Equipment, and Technical Committee 124 (TC 124),Wearable Electronic Devices and Technologies.
The USNC operates on the basis of Technical Advisory Groups (TAGs), one for each IEC Technical Committee (TC), Subcommittee (SC), or Systems Committee (SyC) on which the USNC is a “Participating” (“P”) Member, also known as a voting member. USNC TAGs develop U.S. positions on technical – and certain policy – issues that are under consideration within the IEC technical committee structure. The U.S. TAGs provides U.S. experts the opportunity to develop USNC positions, provides an opportunity for fair and equitable participation without dominance by any single interest. The U.S. TAGs for TC 100 and TC 124 initiates New Proposals for Standards and Technical Reports and approves proposals and committee drafts submitted by experts for consideration by TC 100 or TC 124 as International Standards. The U.S. TAG also determines U.S. positions on IEC standards, technical reports, committee drafts, questionnaires, TC 100 or TC 124 meeting agenda items, and meeting reports. Both U.S. TAGs work to create consensus positions for US comments on draft IEC standards. The consensus positions are achieved, then submitted through ANSI as the USNC Secretariat.
The U.S. TAG members make up U.S. representation to TC 100 or TC 124 virtual and face to face meetings, designates heads and members of delegations, and ensures proper U.S. participation from appropriate stakeholders. The U.S. TAG may recommend candidates to the USNC for leadership and participation in IEC TC 100 or IEC TC 124 working groups, project teams, and maintenance teams, though most experts self-identify.
Membership in the U.S. TAG is open to all US national interested parties who indicate that they are directly and/or materially affected by the activity of the TAG, as well as the related work of TC 100 and TC 124.
Please review the documents below if you are interested in membership in TC 100 or TC 124.
