The Consumer Technology Association® (CTA), the owner and producer of CES®, the world’s most powerful tech event, reveals the results of a new artificial intelligence (AI) study at the
CTA CEO Summit in Stockholm. Focused on Swedish consumer sentiment, the study explores how this fast-growing technology will impact their lives. According to the CES Tech Trends: Swedish Consumer Sentiment on AI survey 52% of Swedes report currently using at least one AI tool at work, with nearly a third of Swedes using ChatGPT for work. The future of AI use in the workplace leans even more into the hands of younger generations, with 77% of Gen Z Swedes expecting to use Gen AI professionally in the next five years, compared to 62% of the overall population.
“The survey makes it clear that Swedes are excited about AI now, as well as its future potential,” said Gary Shapiro, CEO, CTA. “At CTA, we’re working with partners in industry and government to propel this transformative technology forward, ensure it delivers on its promise to improve lives around the globe, and solves some of the world’s biggest challenges.”
The research shows Swedish consumers expect AI to have the most positive impact on their lives in the areas of technology (48%), customer services (36%), and education (35%). While excitement is high, consumers also expressed concerns about the impact of Gen AI on the healthcare, media, and financial sectors. These concerns translate to 72% of Swedish consumers wanting clear labeling on AI-generated content.
“AI was a dominant trend at CES 2024, and we expect this to continue at CES 2025,” said Kinsey Fabrizio, President, CTA. “While many conversations focus on AI’s applications for tomorrow, research like this shows the technology is already increasing productivity and enhancing learning experiences.”
The survey launch coincides with the annual Consumer Technology Association CEO Summit, which is being held in Stockholm, Sweden from June 23 – 27. The summit features founders and chief executives from top companies across the world. Among them were Swedish business leaders like
Lars Stenqvist, Chief Technology Officer, Volvo Group who participated in a fireside chat on revolutionizing the future of sustainable transportation.
Asa Tamsons, Senior Vice President and Head of Business Area Enterprise Wireless Solutions, Ericsson presented on unleashing 5G technologies for a more connected world.
Swedish business leaders joined a panel on “Innovation Nation: Sweden’s Winning Approach,” which included
Andreas Grape, Founder and CEO, Nordic Angels, Caroline Walerud, Chairman and Co-Founder, Airforestry and Volumental and
Giovanni Fili, CEO, Exeger. Attendees also had the opportunity to tour Exeger’s Stockholm facility.
Methodology:
CES Tech Trends: Swedish Consumer Sentiment on AI was administered as an online survey among 450 Swedish adults (ages 18-plus) from June 7 to 14, 2024. This research focuses on the current awareness and use of AI, expectations for future use, and regulation and the impact of Gen-AI on daily lives. The margin of sampling error at 95% confidence for aggregate results is +/-4.6%. Sampling error is larger for subgroups of the data.
