CTA Urges Senate Passage of USMCA

The following statement is attributed to Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, Consumer Technology Association (CTA)®, on the pending Senate vote on the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA):

“We’re pleased the Senate is prioritizing this free trade agreement. Each day that passes without action on USMCA — the new NAFTA — further compromises America’s position as a global technology leader. This agreement includes important digital trade updates — a ban on data localization requirements, prohibition on duties on electronic commerce and intermediary liability protections— that are important for American small businesses. We urge the Senate to pass the new NAFTA quickly and help the tech sector keep our economy investing and thriving.”
