CTA Thanks Ginni Rometty for Leadership, Vision at IBM

by
Tyler Suiters Riya Anandwala
The following statement is attributed to Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, Consumer Technology Association (CTA)® on the retirement of Ginni Rometty as president and CEO of IBM:

“We thank Ginni Rometty for the strong leadership she showed and the example she set at IBM. A two-time keynote speaker at CES®, she always delivered a vision of what technology will bring – whether two or ten years into the future. And by inviting the leaders of companies including Under Armour and Delta to share the stage with IBM, Ginni made the case that every company today needs to be a tech company.

“Under Ginni, IBM became synonymous with quantum computing, artificial intelligence and solving problems – and she recognized the American worker is among our nation’s most valuable assets. Ginni launched IBM’s apprenticeship program in 2017, and I was proud to stand with her at CES 2019 when we announced the CTA Apprenticeship Coalition. Through this collaborative effort – inspired by IBM’s program and Ginni’s passion – some 40 of our member companies are helping create a national corps of skilled workers to fill millions of ‘new collar’ American jobs.

“We congratulate Ginni Rometty on her tenure at IBM. And we look forward to continuing our successful partnership with IBM, as Arvind Krishna assumes the role of CEO and Jim Whitehurst begins as president.”
