The following statement is attributed to Tiffany Moore, senior vice president, political and industry affairs, Consumer Technology Association (CTA)®, on today’s launch of the Congressional Future of Work Caucus, a bipartisan working group of U.S. Representatives committed to helping lawmakers and their staffs make informed policy decisions on workforce development issues.
“Preparing our current and future workforce for evolving jobs in the tech sector and beyond is a top priority for us and our more than 2,000 member companies. The tech sector supports 18 million U.S. jobs and represents 12% of our GDP – and we have the responsibility of preparing Americans for the jobs of the future. We thank Reps. Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-DE) and Bryan Steil (R-WI) for co-chairing the caucus and making workforce development a priority in Congress – and look forward to working together to find innovative ways to hire, retain and develop skilled workers.”
CTA is committed to prioritizing the tech sector’s investment in the U.S. workforce through
job retraining efforts and apprenticeship programs including the CTA’s own
Apprenticeship Coalition, which launched a year ago.
Last year, CTA released its third annual
Future of Work survey of tech sector business leaders, showing 68% plan to retain their workers by offering reskilling programs.
CTA’s 21st Century Workforce Council has more than 50 member companies that share with each other best practices and strategies for attracting talent and shaping a productive and positive work environment.
