In recognition of his incredible contributions to the technology industry, Jim Lind will receive the 2022 Smart Home Leadership Award presented by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA)®.
Lind has been in the custom and retail electronics solutions industry for over 40 years, serving at Nebraska Furniture Mart for 26 years. Lind is now the buyer for the company's custom installation division.
Lind is no stranger to volunteering, with an extensive history of giving back to the industry. He is an active member of the CTA Smart Home Division Board, where he served as Chair from 2019-2020. Lind is also a past member of the CTA Audio Division Board.
Outside of CTA, Lind serves on the ProSource Custom Integration (CI) Committee as well as the Education Committee.
In a chat with CTA, Lind reflects on winning this year’s Smart Home Leadership Award and discusses the future of the smart home industry.
I have participated in many groups over the years, whether it be holding a CTA Division Board seat, participating in a CTA committee or working group, or simply sitting in on a call, and volunteering to serve this industry has been a rewarding experience for me. The interactions I have had with various participants and board members especially stand out.
I see a continued increase in wellness products for both the DIY and integrator market. Wellness technology comes in many forms, but ultimately, I see the continued growth of technology that makes people’s lives easier and allows them to live independently in their homes for as long as possible.
I hope to inspire members to a higher level of service, both to their customers and to the industry. When you take care of your customers, you’ll have them for life. I encourage other professionals in the industry to find volunteer opportunities that interest them and to get involved. I hope that my participation will influence others.
Each year, CTA presents the award to an individual who has made significant contributions to the growth and success of the smart home industry and shows continued dedication and service to the consumer tech industry.
