Forced Separation of Immigrant Families Should End, Says CTA

by
Bronwyn Flores

The following statement is attributed to Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, Consumer Technology Association (CTA), regarding the forced separation of children from their parents at the U.S. border:

"Our nation has a duty to enforce our immigration laws, but forcibly separating children and babies from their parents as a way to enforce policy is not who we are as a nation. Our government should act now to prevent and stop these traumatic family separations. This shows again why it's so important for Congress to set aside politics to finally provide a permanent solution to DACA and clear the way for skills based immigration. Unless we act urgently to fix our immigration policy, our nation will hurt its economy, lose its competitive advantage and  be stuck with immigration laws that don't represent our values as a nation."
